What is blackjack bouvier?

Blackjack Bouvier was a male German Shepherd dog who became famous for being the pet of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the 1960s. He was named after a popular card game, Blackjack, and the Bouvier family, who were related to Jacqueline's late husband, President John F. Kennedy.

Blackjack was born on October 9, 1955, in New Jersey, and was given to the Kennedy family as a gift by family friend Roswell Gilpatric. He quickly became a beloved member of the family, and was often seen by Jacqueline's side during her time in the White House.

In 1963, Blackjack became a national sensation when he chased away an intruder who had scaled the fence of the Kennedy's property in Virginia. The incident was widely reported in the media, and led to increased security measures being put in place for the Kennedys.

Unfortunately, Blackjack's life was cut short when he was hit by a car in 1967. Jacqueline was devastated by his death, and reportedly visited his grave regularly.

Today, Blackjack's legacy lives on in his descendants, with many of his offspring going on to become successful show dogs and service animals.
